Oakland and San Jose barely register Dreamforce’s demand spike at all, because the conference’s entire hotel-and-shuttle footprint is built around downtown SF and SFO — OAK and SJC just aren’t part of that ecosystem.

Flying out of OAK instead saved me $197 on the flight alone — and that’s before counting the traffic I skipped. Downtown SF and the 101/280 corridor into SFO turn into a genuine mess during Dreamforce week; even BART gets noticeably more crowded with conference badges. OAK’s a smaller, calmer airport to begin with, so the whole trip felt lower-stress from the driveway to the gate. That’s the real value of catching Dreamforce week flights early — before the last-minute price crunch hits.
