West Coast Wings started with one text message: “drop everything, Highway 1, tomorrow, 6am, you in?” Since then it’s become my full-time obsession — hunting down the cheapest flights out of SFO, OAK and SJC, and mapping every Bay Area road trip worth the tank of gas.
Who’s behind this site
Hi, I’m Olya — a Bay Area local who got tired of paying full price for flights and treating road trips like a once-a-year event. I’ve been tracking fares out of SFO, OAK and SJC long enough to know the pattern almost never changes. The people who wait until they’re free to book are the ones who pay the most. West Coast Wings is where I share the real fare drops, booking windows and drive-day routes I actually use, minus the fluff. I test everything here first. I book the flight, I drive the road, then I write it up. Every price in every article is one I actually paid, not a number I looked up.
Find me on Instagram @OlyaDreaMore, or come say hi in the West Coast Wings Facebook group, where I post most of these deals the day I find them.
What you’ll find here
Flight deal breakdowns out of Bay Area airports, organized by destination and by holiday. Step-by-step Highway 1 and California road trip guides. Honest comparisons of the booking tools and travel protection worth using. No filler — just what gets you out of town for less. Start with the complete guide to cheap flights from the Bay Area if you’re not sure where to look first.
Why trust the numbers
Every fare comparison on this site comes from a search I actually ran, on a route I actually booked or seriously priced out. It’s never a template filled in with plausible-sounding numbers. When I say a route dropped from $340 to $146, that’s the exact booking window I used. If a trick stops working or a price pattern changes, I update the article rather than leave stale numbers up.
Custom trip planning
